The bearing of a linear motor is a connecting device between the fixed and rotating parts of the motor. It not only affects the motor's operation but also its service life, which in turn impacts the product quality of the motor. Therefore, daily use and maintenance should be paid attention to.

Needle roller bearings feature low friction resistance, high mechanical efficiency, convenient lubrication and maintenance, and have been standardized. They are widely used in stepper motors. A common fault of needle roller bearings is excessive bearing temperature. During the operation of a linear motor, when touching the small tile cover or bearing cover seat by hand, it should not feel hot normally; otherwise, it indicates that the bearing temperature is too high.

The causes of excessive bearing temperature are as follows:

  1. The quality of the lubricating grease does not meet the requirements or has deteriorated, with too high viscosity, or there is too much lubricating grease. Neither excessive nor insufficient grease should be added; typically, it should be about 1/3 to 1/2 of the bearing seat.

For a new shaft or a reprocessed shaft journal of a linear motor, there is no biting groove between the journal and the bearing gear, or the journal processing dimensions are incorrect, resulting in the bearing not being installed in place. If the bearing clearance is too small, excessive frictional loss of the oil flow in the clearance will cause the bearing to heat up. Meanwhile, if the clearance is too small, the oil volume will decrease, failing to carry away the heat generated by friction, which will further increase the bearing temperature rise. However, if the clearance is too large, the dynamic characteristics of the bearing will change, and the rotor will become unstable. Therefore, it is necessary to select appropriate bearing clearances for different linear motors and operating conditions, adjust the assembly process, and if unqualified, perform secondary processing on a lathe before reassembling.
  3. Bearing sliding sleeve. There are two types of running sleeves for linear motor bearings: one is the outer ring running sleeve, where there is relative displacement between the outer ring of the bearing and the bearing cavity; the other is the inner ring running sleeve, where there is relative displacement between the inner ring of the bearing and the journal. When the bearing runs on the sleeve, the linear motor will heat up accompanied by a "squeaking" sound. The treatment methods can be relaxing the adhesive or disassembling, reprocessing, and replacing the components.

This series of motors are linear motors that independently convert rotational motion into linear motion, with a wide range of applications, including automotive products, urine test analyzers, blood analyzers, and other medical products, coffee machines, control valves, etc. They have the advantages of high linear movement accuracy, good stability, and long service life.
